How to Solve Widevine Content Decryption Module Error

Get rid of your security tools

The antimalware software tool on your computer system like anti-virus or firewall app can stop WidevineCdm from updating effectively. So we suggested you turn off your computer security first, and improve WidevineCdm in chrome://components/.

Keep in mind: It is possible to turn-on your antimalware app as soon as the upgrade is finalized successfully.

Check if your pc user has entire command to alter WidevineCdm directory

On your pc, press Windows key + R key as a whole to open a Run text box. Next type

 %userprofile%/appdata/local

in the text box and press Enter. On the pop-up window, double-click Google > Chrome > User Data. In User Data folder, search for and right-click on WidevineCdm to pick Properties. At the next window, hit on Security pane. And then find out if your login user is permitted with Final control. If it turns out it’s not, simply click Edit… to correct the option. Untick the box of Deny checklist, and then just click on Apply > OK to save your setting. Go back again chrome://components/ to check out for update again.

Erase Widevine Folder

Close Chrome web browser. Press Windows key + R key as a whole to open a Run text box. Next type  %userprofile%/appdata/local in the text box and press Enter. On the pop-up window, double-click Google > Chrome > User Data. In User Data folder, search for WidevineCdm folder of your laptop. Drag the folder to Recycle Bin and after that right-click on Recycle Bin to choose Empty Recycle Bin. Go back once again chrome://components/ to check for upgrade once again.
